Kosovo thinks it is independent

Geographically its difficult for most people to find let alone almost impossible to understand unless you've practically taken a history course on the matter...

I'm not going to go very deeply into this but what is above is a general lack of understanding of the Balkans and the situation in Kosovo in the late 1990's and is the typical one sided "Serbia bad" "Kosovar Albanian good" attitude that seems prevalent in the west.

Serbia never had much of an interest in repressing the Albainian population there. It was the Terrorist activities of the EU and NATO backed KLA and AKSH against the Serb population that demanded Serbia send in forces to protect the Serb minority in Kosovo. The current "president" of Kosovo is a wanted war criminal in Serbia and has been identified as the leader of a Terrorist organization by the US gov't. It was not just Kosovos albainians that where butchered and expelled from the region by gunpoint. It is a bit more complex than that...

Kosovos Serb population largely left at the end of the 78 day NATO warcrime due to the fact the KLA could just roam the streets with NATO protection as they torched Serb houses, monestaries, churches and ethically cleansed whole areas.

Today it is really easy to find a Serb in Kosovo... Look for the house or bombed out enclave surrounded in razor wire with a bored looking NATO soldier in a tank guarding it.Those will be the Serbs.. Sit there long enough you might see someone toss a grenade over the fence as the Bored looking NATO soldier sits there and watches.
 
I'm doing history at uni and it still confuses me. Granted I havn't studied this area in depth (but will be doing next year).

Alot of people don't know where it is, and thats a shame, but I don't agree with your sweeping generalisations. Yes its awful what happened to the family you know, and I truly wish that on no-one, but you can't just claim all of an ethnic culture are like that.
 
yea im not ive realized theres a different side to the story, and dont disagree with it, im still amazed at what humans can do to other humans

To understand the Balkans is easy... Take your brain out smash it with a hammer a few times then put it back..

If there has ever been a perfect case for just separating everyone on ethnic lines, Building huge electric fences and barriers this would be the region. The issue of Kosovo to Serbia however is a nobrainer this is our sovereign territory and has been for a very very very long time it can not have "independence" without Serbia....Period

I really do not expect many people to know where the Balkans are let alone Kosovo... Comes from experience...I'm pretty sure only one in ten these days can point to a map and find Serbia.

It is not intended to offend to "MFK people" it is just a disturbing reality of just how geographically challenged people seem to be these days. NIMBY and it does not exist...

I know you are a miserable person but you have to act like an adult sometime. You hate MFK so much but you cant stand not getting attention so you still hang around here. Its sad... get a life.
