L-160 spiny monster pleco

:irked:

He is a liar and scams people all the time sending the wrong fish. i told him that they are not L160 SEVERAL times but he insisted to have the real deal.

You should always read the reviews on aquabid. I believe he has been doing this for a while now. it is sad because affects all vendors there.

name: Jared Barto

Did you see the black commmons he was trying to pawn off as L-160 unungy? I did see the two negatives on this clown but didn't heed the warning. L-160 are harder to find than L-25 right now.

In my opinion L160 isn't hard to get however the problem is availability.
I didn't see them personally only pictures sent to me. I have told him that they were not L160, but he didn't seem to care finding out what they were but continued with the sale.

I hope he doesn't do this again and try to ID his plecos before posting them for sale.

What to look for on an aquabid auction:

1. Are those pictures of the real fish? are those someone's pictures with some water marking?
2. The price - why? is it so cheap?
3. Shipping and availability
4. Feedback - contact people to see if they are happy with the end product and services.
5. Ask for more pictures

I hope it helps

Yeah he emailed me and called me some choice words for giving him a negative feedeback. He also said he wanted to show you (unungy) pics of his L-160's but you did not want any sent to you. All I did was bid on what I thought was a rare pleco I did not want all this aggravation. From now on if my LFS doesn't have it then I will have to do without.

If you put a warning out there. YOU need to have the courage to stand behind your original message.
He is an scam and a liar. A warning is to help people out there of such individuals like this dishonest vendor. I asked for pictures myself and I was also sent pictures from my customers so I can ID the fish for them. If he is telling you a different story I don't care.

Normally I never get into debates like this but this time it is affecting a lot of people not only you. It is why I replied to your original message otherwise why posting in the first place? LFS has nice plecos from time to time.

I hope someone appreciate this very serious warning....

The pictures in the link are not of a common pleco and it is an interesting fish. Still not convinced of the ID on planetcatfish.

Yes I agree that PC may not have the proper ID for this fish.

Looks like a common to me( Hypostomus plecostomus ) not a Pterygoplichthys disjunctivus or a Pterygoplichthys pardalis .

However there are a few concerns in what I'm seeing... it was listed as a 'spiney monster' and I did see spines on the pictures from planetcatfish this makes me think of an Isorineloricaria spinosissima (Zucchini pleco)which does look a little like a common Hypostomus and at a smaller size their tail appears normal in size. Compare the 3rd picture to the one from Unungy's link

I took the fish to my LFS Fantastic Fins and the owner breeds all kinds of plecos. He said it was a pterygoplichthys pardalis. Very common around here. In fact my Lfs had a few in his shop and he said he gives these to people if they want them. I gave the fish to him because I didn't want a common as that is exactly what this was.
