Yes, I have removed pairs that have been in the cave too long. It's not a bad idea with known wife beaters, such as pseudas, leporacanthicus, certain ancistrus species and, to a lesser extent, even your L-134s. Hypans, such as is seen in the topic posted above, are not usually quite so violent when spawning.
