I've never seen that name or description and that's a readily available fish that's easily identified. I took that right off his stock list. So as someone else says, without the scientific name, the common names mean nothing.

Rapps clearly listed the scientific name though. To the OP, I'm not trying to start a big argument. The only reason I brought it up is because you were talking about possibly breeding them. And I just thought about there being "platinum royal's" on aquabid for $10.99 each. I just didn't want Unungy's head to explode...

Imo this outlook is one of the things slowly ruining the hobby. In 10 years everything not bought from rapps or gage will be labeled "super red ultra turbo mega flame red severum"

I saw that common name used here in a few of the asian ran lfs.
East asia have their own common names for some plecos and other fish. Ive noticed a few recently. These common names are being used elsewhere more often.

The OP used the L# That gives us a clue.
They did not claim a new species "panaque platinum"

The "platinum" was used to describe its colour. Theres nothing wrong with that.
