update he's eating the cucumber! Now last a final (hopefully) question how long do i leave the veggies in for before they mess with water quality or they go "bad"? Thanks again

If he likes cucumber he'll like zucchini which has a lot more nutritional value for them. Mine get nothing but zucchini, drift wood and whatever leftovers of the other fish's food they eat and are healthy as can be.
I agree with Jer but personally I think its better to mix the veg up a bit for their nutrition. Basically I just put in a bit of whatever firm veg we are eating for dinner (un cooked of course). Mine are fond og pumpkin and potato.
As for how long to leave it in, I usually put it in about an hour befor going to bed and take it out in the morning.

Variety can't really hurt but be leery of what veggies you toss into your tank. Potatoes are high in starches so I personally don't put them in my aquarium.
Update here's a video i took yesterday he was spiraling around the glass of the tank so i tried to get a video and failed so i took this. I was wondering why he was doing so .... BAM ich

Well unfortunatly he just died today. Had a battle with ich for 2 weeks. 50% water changes every second day with two separate treatments with api ick cure and a temp of 83 wasnt good enough i liked the little guy but i did find out that they have ridiculously slow growth rate and are huge poop machines

Sorry for you loss bro. One of my other plecos turned on my anthrax flyer pleco, I think I miht be one down Too when I get off work.
