I have just rehomed my bristlenose, due to him suddenly going into hiding constantly, with a breeder and the wife wants another pleco and she spotted an L200.
i am wondering if its very active during the day or is it mostly nocturnal?
i just dont like to have fish that i dont see regularly and i couldnt care less if it doesnt clean the glass. it will be homed with Uaru A's, FM's, Blue Acara, Filament Barbs and corydoras.
Thanks in advance guys.

They are fairly reclusive, and are nocturnal, as are most catfish. In larger groups they do tend to come out more.

how big is your tank?

5x2x2.
if they are quite reclusive then i dont think i will bother. the wife like having plecs but i dont see the point in having fish i never see but adding to the bio-load. would rather increase my cory population or barbs.

thanks guys.

Bout as active as most plecos really... Although if you are used to a bristlenose that was out and about a lot, you might be dissappointed. Nocturnal animals aren't usually out in the day. Ancistrus and rubberlips would be my best bet though. They are a mixed bag when it comes to you viewing them. Maybe get a royal or some kind with some driftwood, that wouldn't be a bad idea.

In that kind of space, look for a L024/L025, they are both quite active.

when they are young they are as shy as can be... almost never see them if you have caves. Just saying before you fork out for one or two.

omg, L024 is armed to the teeth with spines. the cactus pleco indeed. very nice though.
L025 is very nice but a bit larger than im looking to house.
possible aggression in both is also putting me off a little. planet catfish info pages say they can aggressively territorial with other fish if they like a particular cave which worries me as 3 of my cichlids have chosen the caves.
i have considered a bulldog pleco again. my male bristlenose killed the first one i had. the bulldog (aka rubber lips) was always out and about.
i put plants in for my uaru so i cant really have anything that will destroy the plants constantly.

Most plecos... (esp. males) are territorial and pick caves as their best spot to defend. The pseudas might not be best for you though if you are worried about the cichlids. Rubberlips would be fine with plants, but then most species are.

My L200 is one of the most active Pleco I've had. If you want a Pleco that's fairly active and doesn't mind being seen, I'd say get a Sail-Fin Pleco (Glyptoperichthys Gibbiceps).
