  1. Can they get along with L14? Will they kill L14 in a fight? 180 gallon tank setup. My biggest concern is that if the L25 meets the L14 the L25 will kill the L14.
  2. Pure carnivore correct?
  3. Activity level in comparison to the L14.
  4. Hardy?
  5. Average price?
  6. What size do they usually come in? Are babies ever imported?
  7. If there is a ban, how come I occasionally see them for sale on aquabid?

It really depends on your tank setup and the sex of the fish. If you provide lots of territories out of driftwood AND more keep more than those two plecos in the tank, you should be fine.

I have about 40 or more plecos in my 175g: Pleco paradise!

My L25 is definitely a female and can get aggressive at times but has her spot carved out in the tank and no one messes with her. She is about 15" with streamers. She will eat algae wafers, market shrimp, bw, NLS pellets

I have three L14's in there: one is about 12" (another female and a big wuss) and the other two are about 8 or 9" in size. They never fight.

The only time the L25 picks on anything in the tank, it's either my L330 water melon pleco who is about a 10" long and tries to act hard. The L25 will suck on its head but not enough to cause infection. The only other thing the L25 sucks on is my razorback mush turtle...doesn't bother the turtle though!

The L25 only killed one fish ever in my tank and that was a 12" L48 gold nugget. Again from sucking on the head and causing stress and infection. That being said, the L48 never really found its own spot in the tank..even the L14 was higher up on the pecking order.

My tank has the following species:

Bigs (8" and up): L25, L14, L75, L137, L47, L330, L27, L200, L128

Littles (under 8"): L134, L47, L002, L15, L102, L200

Good luck with your tank and pleco quest!

I have 2 x L14's with pseudas right now. The L14's are 12 & 10" and the pseudas are a range of size from 2"-6" L114's and L320's. No real fights, except amongst the pseudas.

you had them for a couple of years already and they are only 2"-6"?

not to derail but, @ knobhill: please post some pix of your 175g pleco paradise. myself and im sure many others would like to see all your big cats!
