Hi guys I will be buying some l46 Plecos from unungy I have never owned them before so I have some questions. I have a 40 gallon breeder and a 56 gallon both could house them but I need some help.
40 or 56?
Sand or gravel?
Heater gaurd?
What filter would be best?
Air pump?
Driftwood?
What type of caves?
Plants?
What else will be good in the tank?
Any other extremely rare Plecos can be in the tank?
What other fish will do good?
Any thing else I should know?

Ive only ever kept them in gravel tanks
Heater gaurd never hurts but ive never had problems with them bein hurt by the heater
Well filtered clean water, i have a 40 with a marineland emperor 350 and i like it
I always recomend dw for all tanks with plecos, for l46 i dont believe its completly essential but i recomend it as many plecos like to hang around and hide in it
Most caves will work, just need good retreating spots
They do good in planted tanks
Many comunity fish will be good
Try some of the more peaceful plecos, but never kept them with another species of pleco so ill let someone else chime in on that one
Theyre pretty carnivorous

I have my 10 in a 65 gallon with sand with a heater with no guard. My filters are 2 sponge filters with a small korilia for water movement also have a 8 watt u.v. sterilizer powerhead in the tank. I have a chunk of driftwood in there that they never mess with. My caves in there are the square Terra-cotta caves. I would not keep any other plecos with them zebras are not aggressive at all and won't be able to out compete other plecos for food. As far as other fish I don't have any with mine nor will I. Other fish means potential for problems sickness, water quality etc. Acclimate slowwww and find out what he is feeding them. Good luck

I was thinking of geting some l46 soon but not sure of the best place to get them over here. post pics when you have them.

Rare aquatics.

Awesome thx! Love those terra cotta caves but unforunatetly I've never seen them before around here. I've been looking for slate caves or just slate in general so I could make my own. What type of glue is safe for these types of applications?
