go big as u can. zebra's are shy pleco's. so def get lots of caves or driftwood for them to feel comfy. easy pleco's to keep in my opinion.if this isnt a show tank or using them to breed i wold suggest barebottom. or maybe painting the side and bottom of the tank black. more clean going barebottom. but a sand would be a nice choice if u decide not to go barebottoms. a nice school of small tetras would look nice aswell.

Zebra's don't need any driftwood. You can get the terra-cotta from from kensfish.com or once again keep an eye out on aqua bid. Keep other fish out if you trying to breed. No distractions or chane of disease. Until you can successfully breed them keep it simple and easy on you. :) let us know how it goes with them. Post pics too :)

My suggession is...keep it simple...1. make sure your water is fully cycle, 2. have the proper food for your fish ready and 3. set up your tank before you get the fishes in..

... My L46's are kept in a bare bottom 30 breeder... I have 1 male and 4 female... my tank is run on 3 sponge filters I have 3 drift wood, 2 malaysian, and 1 random wood I picked up at petco on clearance...and one plant nanny cave....nothing else was needed to produce my frys.
