Another question, is are you 100% certain that you had a L152, and that it was not mislabeled? So many LFSs have fish labeled wrong all the time, we have all seen this. Plecos are no exception. Most scientific documentation is going to be far more credible in terms that they have to be more precise when it comes to identification.
 
20 years ago very few if any stores used L numbers when they sold plecos. Don't remember what name they used for it. What is incorrect is these are not the same species. repeating I had this fish 5 years, fed (probably overfed) twice a day, 50% water changes weekly and no changes (either growth or appearance).
 
Well currently by science standards, they have the same Latin name. This means they are the same species, I don't know whether you got sold the wrong name or what but it is very common for fish stores to sell one fish as another. I have heard numerous stories of I got sold this, but they sold it to me as a Common Pleco, when the fish has stripes, or has blue eyes. Not saying that you did, or that you don't know what you had. Just consider how often that happens, not just with plecos, but with all fish in general.
