La Ceiba Freddy female

The La Ceiba freddy and loiselle are the same fish. It's probably better to just call them Parachromis sp. "La Ceiba" or something like that. If you breed them you really need to breed them to another La Ceiba. Jeff Rapps was selling them a while back as Rio Danto loiselle until Dr. Paul Loiselle examined some and said it looked closer to a freddy than a loiselle. Now the picture on TUIC is different and the fish is called La Ceiba friedrichsthalii. The La Ceiba designation was coined by Ken Davis at fishfarm, as he was one of the individuals that collected them originally. Rusty Wessell has a pair (or had a pair), that the TUIC stock comes from. So there are two original sources of these fish. Those at TUIC from Rusty Wessell, and those from fishfarm that Ken Davis collected. I believe these facts are correct. Anyway, please don't breed these fish with other freddys or loiselles and pass them off as one or the other as we really don't know what the La Ceiba fish is, exactly. It may be a new species.

I agree with everything said! Amazing fish when they are spawning. Great color.

thanks for answering my question!

She is a lil beat up but she is starting to heal and show some nice coloring. My male RT Mota is showing interest in her.
