3/4" all around. However I know you like it thick so you may want to go 1"... just don't go anything less than 3/4"

hey seriously, 3/4" is enough? i don't have to have them thick :D I like em all different styles if you know what I mean :naughty:

but then at the same time, acrylic has some elasticity too, is that why thinner acrylics don't always burst?

Oh, Dr. J, while I have you on here, can you shed your insight on polyfilter pads?
 
If your going 36 tall you better go 1" thick. My 750g acrylic is only 30 tall and is 1".

I personally think 3/4" Acrylic is plenty. If people can get away with 450 gallon tanks with 1/4" tempered glass or even 3/8" temepered and wack it with there hand when water testing then in my book 3/4" acrylic is ok. Though there is alot of bottom pressure on the tank. To be safe go with what Johnptc said but I would think it's kinda overkill.

never had a chance to try polyfilter pads :(

tanks usally bow before breaking

cyro recommends 1 inch for 30 tall by 96
