Well they can't defend themselves that well  I didn't know he was like that.
If I had a fish that I already knew was that aggressive there's no way I'd try to put anything else in there, certainly not bottom-feeders.

I've had problems with this Jack before.

I added an 8 inch pleco to the tank when he was about 4 inches long. The pleco lasted about 10 minutes before I took him out, the JD wouldn't leave him alone, just kept ramming and nipping. I took the pleco back and got an Oscar the same size as the Jack, but he didn't last long either.

Since they hide during the day and defend themselves well, I'm hoping they'll work! If anything else they'll work with the BP and the FM

Jack Dempsey is just one of those fish that you never know what they will do. One person can have one that gets along with anything and everything, some will not tolerate a tankmate of a certain species and then turn around and accept a different individual of the same species it just attacked, still others won't live with anything. Sounds like you already have some experience with the trial and error method, and that is pretty much the only method for picking a Jack Dempsey tankmate.

I have two lace cats with my Jag and convicts. They to get chased around abit, but will eat most ANYTHING and are growing fast. Nice and plump!
