Lacustris Info

I've four C. lacustris, and they are incredibly MEAN to each other. In just a few days, I've had to separate each into a different tank. 2 males, 2 females, and yes! they are as pretty as reputed, even at just a 6" size.

By mean, I mean mean. I tried at first to keep them with my rays and Hoplarchus psittacus (8"+) but, quite frankly, the tank is far too open for them to coexist. So then I separated 1 M/ 1 F into a rather well-cluttered 100g with a bunch of barbs and mahseers. That didn't work either. Anytime I put them together, I find one floating like a dead pencil in the corner of the tank ... I have a feeling doing this as a long-term breeding project is going to be longer-term than I would have wanted. I would like to get more and see if the quantity can diffuse aggression ... but I'm running out of tanks if I'm wrong!

The good news is that they seem to eat just about everything, including pellets, earthworms, and mealworms.

how are your lacustris with other fish? are they super aggresive or just to other lacustris?

Joe, do you have any pics of your lacustris? If they are from Rich I'm not convinced they are lacustris. Some pics would help ID them.

definitely snatch those up. theyre gorgeous pikes. looks like mine when it was a juvenile
