The 150# of sand just happens to be what I have on hand, not sure I'd have any tank left if I tried to use it all lol

4 Calvus mix of black/white should be ok long term then?

Thinking Calvus, transcriptus, and syndontis are the direction i want to go.
 
when you say mix of black and white calvus do you meen a ink fin and a white chakinta or something like that because the calvus's will hybridize. just to let you know unless you dont care then just get the calvus's of wetever color you want and have YOUR TANK the way YOU like it. thats always the most important is to make sure you enjoy the tank its self, hybridizing or not.
 
Just get the dwarf Sumbus. They are small and you could keep them to full size in that tank. Calvus get pretty big for a 40G.
