  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hmmm...go buy a carbon filter, a chemical filter add them in line and (get after it) using lake water in your tanks.

then i guess i wont use the lakewater in my tanks. ill just continue drinking it and swimming in it for the rest of my life :) just like everyone else has. :)

There's no benefit to using leke water. Only that u won't have to use dechlor. Only cons of algae, disease, and parasites that may not harm humans but can do damage to fish.

I too have a hard time seeing you get water straight from a lake. There's a human ich going around that comes from
Duck poop.

ur probably thinking of the highly polluted great lakes vs. the virtually pollution free finger lakes where i live.

Parasite and diseases spread by wild animals have little to do with pollution. You can have the cleanest lake/river/stream in the world but if there is life in it then there will be diseases.

Anyways, if you feel comfortable drinking straight from the water, by all means do so. Don't let a couple of online posts stop you.

If you are already sure, why ask? You already say you have used it for fish. If you aren't going to consider the advice of others, why ask?

Like others said, polution is not the only danger in a lake. If there are fish, then there should be fish diseases native to the lake. Ancient people had to drink from lakes and streams. Many survived, but I'm sure there were some that died of sickness.

The only water I've drank raw was during a cave tour as a kid. The tour guide claimed we could and that it was the same water that was pumped up to the gift shop. There was some sort of cave crustacean(not a crayfish) that lived in the water. Probably not the smartest thing I've done, but I never got sick.
