So I just got a new laptop "xmas present for my self"
acer 15.6"
intel i3 processor
inbuilt graphics *not dedicated* (i know bummer)
2gb ram
320gb hhd
windows 7
wireless network/internet
dvd burner

they threw in a wireless logitech mouse and a blue tooth dongle.

total cost 700$(Aus)

did i just get ripped off you guys think?
and what should i set my wallpaper as?

I don't know the price difference compared to here but it seems like a lower end computer to me.

For that price you could have gotten better for cheaper I think. I got my laptop 2 years ago for $300 and it has similar specs. Here's the one I got http://www.amazon.com/Compaq-Presario-CQ50-130US-15-4-Inch-Processor/dp/B001GCUW0E

Also, If you're computer savvy, you could have built a tower from scratch for way cheaper, If you buy some of the higher end products and a nice case, it'll only run you about $400-500, and it'll do way better on performance. The laptop you bought isn't bad, it's actually good for a laptop, I just don't agree with the price.

yea just a standard laptop for me to be able to do work on the move.
Acer Aspire 5742

i dint want anything flash just to be able to do standard stuff and watch movies here and there

and sorry guys i meant 600$
typo

160gb hard drive on that one the t3 is an older processor
and i hate compaq's lol
horribly customer service

i wouldn't necessarily say lower end.. prices might be a bit higher in AU? We have lots of Aussie members here on MFK, i'm sure someone could answer your question.

i got this one (i don't usually use the laptop at home, but i wanted to watch tv and get out of the duckies' room), HP, 15.6" screen, 6GB RAM, 500 Gig hard drive, windows 7, wireless, built in mic and webcam for $499 USD. i didn't get any extras.. i ordered it online and got nothing special or extra with it. in fact, i have to buy a car charger, wireless mouse and a case for it soon.

yea but i hate ordering online! my last dell that i orderd online was like running hamster wheel processors
