Get a PS3 if you want a system.

Xbox's have lots of problems, and just arent as good a machine on paper.

Plus you get blueray, and you dont have to pay for online.

The newer machines have significantly less problems than the old, and i only ever have had one problem with mine that required it to be sent in and i've owned my system since december '06, not too bad. Most people i've known that have had xbox's as long as I have had to send it in twice max, usually once or none.

You might get a blueray but i'd rather pay $5 a month for a decent connection online than a shoddy, laggy setup like playstation

- Personally I don't believe as a 16 year old a laptop or netbook is needed, because you really don't need it for school if you have a desktop at home, and in 2 years when ur going off to college you'll need one, and by then the technology will probably be significantly further along and you won't have to mess with buying a new one halfway through school (as long as you keep it away from the beer) :D

id get a laptop

^ regardless what he gets, he can never keep up and win over technology cuz theres always going to be something better. but to me a laptop is the best investment.

i guess it depends on what you want it for. netbooks are more portable, lighter, but they can't do everything that a laptop can.

a laptop can be a back up, for your desktop, it can do everything and sometimes more than your desktop (just by virtue of being newer and more advanced technology). BUT, it's heavier and everything is more expensive for it. and the ones with the 17" screens are huge and the carrying cases for them are big $$.

HDTV is changing.. they are getting better and the older models are getting cheaper all the time. in 6 months the ones that are $800 will be under $500 as the newer ones come out.
