Large acrylic tank build... Pic intence

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You did a GREAT JOB! I'm surprised you did the fill test in the actual room and not outdoors! Confidence.... I like it!

BTW, noticed the corner braces on the bottom inside corners.... was it necessary or just in case? Any bowing due to the length of the tank? Now my wheels are turning to build a biggie!

WOW! Your filter is bigger than my tank! Great work. If you don't make any money making more of these you should definitely start.

Joey, you are making me want to go out and buy some acryllic :D

You have done an awesome job of this build, it looks very professionally made.

Great thread also, simply awesome :headbang2

Thanks buddy! Why build an acrylic tank when you already built a work of art?!?!

Woww awesome DIY, very professional and clean, btw do you have any pix when sealing? I'm going do my pretty soon, still call around for price, its damn expensive around here in socal close to $400 for a sheet 4x8.
can't wait to see the final outcome.

Thanks
I do have a few pics of the sealing.... But if you go on you tube and search tap plastics, they have a great video of how to do it... i used it for referance on my build.

$400 for a 4X8 sheet is a good price. $12.50 sq/ft is cheap IMO. i paid $12 sq/ft for 10mm glass not too long ago.

Well... :WHOA: Profesional work... I'm jealous and very impressed what you did !

Can you take some pictures of the wet/dry filter and give some more informations about media and what pump are you using.

One more time, I'm so impressed ! I wish my future filter will be teh same :)

Thank you for showing us your setup !

Thank you... i'll grab a few more shots of the filter in action... im also working on getting a videa together of the whole set up. Right now i am using a mag 7... but i will be upgrading to a quiet one 6000, or mag 18 in a couple of weeks.

I did the fill slowly... about 25% more every day.. took 4 days to fill it. I had a pump on standby if i needed to drain it fast... i didnt think it would explode.. i let it sit empty for about 2 weeks befor testing it as well.

The braces in the bottom corners were not needed, but i thought since i had the extra acrylic, why not? Made the bottom corners much stronger at the tanks weakest points.

The tank did bow.. not detectable by looking at it.. but i did measure, and it bowed by maybe 2-3mm.

Thanks. i wish the filter was bigger, but it will still serve its purpose at this size....

I dont think i could handle the pressure(making it perfect) or have the "right" tools to build for others ... nice idea though.

That is amazing work. I can't wait for finished and stocked pics. I am very handy with tools and building but I think I'd be a little scares to make something that big and have it fail. I give you DIY guys tons of credit
