problem with this is, everyone is up for a side job for money these days. Just because someone has worked with acrylic for years, does not mean their capable of building a tank thats going to hold so much water. And the way your going to find out that the guy couldent do it right, is most likely going to be costly on your end. This is why theres people that specialize in tank building, and they dont just come out of any old glass and acrylic shop.

When building a container for so much water, that has the potential to ruin your entire house, its not a wise idea to cut corners and not use someone that specializes in tanks. Otherwise, several hundred gallons of water on your floor, and the replacement of flooring and other things, will quickly add up to well over what you saved on the tank.

very true sir. The guy that i found was up for the job but please dont think he got it easily. He has build fish tanks in the past , and has been working with acrylic for 30 years. I have done all the layout for the tank including the brace and im going 3/4 an inch instead of 1/2 which is all that is needed. The top bracing is going to be a sheet with two feed holes , and a spot for my overflowbox. The man looked over my designs then said it would work .... but then he said he wanted to do inside bracing that ran down the side of the tank 2 inches and went from side to side.... this is overkill but he says doing this way he warrenties the tank for life... People specialize in tank building because its easy , and you can rip off and mark up however much you want due to the small quanity of people who want huge tanks... but yes make sure your guy knows his stuff. He is also building the stand and canopy out of acrylic that will be matted. Its going to be bad ass. Along with a built in sump to the stand....

call acrylic places around your area that sell acrylic sheets. When you call ask to speak with the acrylic cutters or workers and ask if somone there is up for a side job. Thats how i got this guy thats been working with acrylic for 30 years and saved me 6,000 dollars on my 500 gallon tank im getting built right now.

You're saving $6k on a 500gal? You can get a tank of that size from tenecor with warranties, delivered for less than $6k, seems very odd....
