Any advice for me on a 16" Armatus in a 240. I followed every bodies advice when i got him and he seems to be doing fine. Except every so often he seems to be swimming against the glass in a corner and does not look happy.
he has potential to jump and get spooked easier when he is in this mode.
Usually though he is totally fine. I keep thinking he needs a bigger tank but its gonna take me another 3 months to do it.
He eats anything from jumbo shrimp stuffed with Hikari, Silversides, Tilpia soaked in Vita-Chem and Krill and usually swims in his current fine looking bold waiting to eat.
I have 2 Rio 2500's blowing at him for his current along with a SEIO 1500 that blows bubbles mostly.
Should i add another Rio on the other side front of glass to really get a nice spin current going or change the RIO's for just 1 powerhead that blows 2200 GPH?

240 gallon would be good for quite some time. You might need to upgrade if it grows to 20+ inches.

If it was my fish, I wouldn't reduce the current. If anything, I'd add more current. I'm known for being a current addict though lol.

The spazzing may be because during certain parts of the day he can see his reflection due to ambient light and is attacking himself. I have this problem with my GATF early in the morning.

the current also makes the fins of the Armatus grow bigger and "flow"! An armatus seems to be alot more calm when it's in a dim place. I had my armatus near a bright window when i had my old house. It freaked like crazy. Its nose was destroyed. When i moved, I put the tank in a darker space. My armatus is super calm now and his nose pretty much healed perfectly!

Any recommendations on a power head with a sponge filter built in that's better than the RIO 2500? I added another RIO 2500 on the front of the glass!

I saw a photo of an Armatus on this forum with the most amazing fins i ever seen it really got me thinking. that fish looked happy.
I got sides of the tank with black background. The issue only happens during times when the sunlight comes into his room.
I was thinking to just cover the whole tank and uncover only when i am feeding or hanging out observing him? Any ideas for when he is swimming up and down the glass?
Thanks in advance i would appreciate it very much!

I don't use sponge filters so I can't really help you with that. As for powerheads, any big Koralia is well worth the money. I would recommend at a minimum a Koralia 1400 but spring for one of the Magnums if you can afford it.

Korilla is my preferred powerhead brand. Good customer service too, I called 2 weeks ago for a replacement impellar on my oldest one, they sent it free of charge.
