Large Bichirs Update

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
E.C look for much bigger loaches then ornates..ornates will overgrow them very fast and may become their prey :)

Sent from my GT-I9100 using MonsterAquariaNetwork App

What I'm planning is to have a lone tank for my Ornates and even give em a tankmate such as a Arowana, Maybe a Malaysian Gold Arowana. But that will be 3-4years for now because I still live in my parent's house, after I get stable or whatnot Imma continue this hobby with my own house, and we're living in the 2nd floor so basically no go for large aquariums, I only got a couple of 135gallons here and I could only use one because of weight issues. I do want to set up a (community tank small fishes for my living room), (Arowana/Ornate [wall aquarium]) and my (SA/ with Delhezi/Senegals on it.) everythings is being planned as of now, pending.
@FishNCash normally do ornates attack such big loaches?

EC-any bichirs big enough will attack loaches if you don't keep them well fed. You will need to feed them a lot to stop their temptation. For this reason, I only give them massivore pellets as a treat. My bichir get 1.5 lbs of tilapia a week.

I also feed tilapia as my secondary- pellets-tilapia-bloodworms (my own breed gotta have a lot of non sucking mosquitoes here),-nightcrawlers a (a farm near of us) shrimps (they're a bit pricey here so occasionally only) and some feeders w/c ofcourse a treat (mainly knife-livebearers/ swordtails). but sometimes I do skip a day or two depending on my schedule for feeding, I know it's fine and all but would that spark a non-wishing aggression?

I got a few shots using the phone. Here is a little description of the sizing reference. The congicus are about 17-18". The lap in the background is about 22". The endli and hybrid ansorgii is around 13". The pbb is camera shy so I couldn't get a decent pic :-( he's hidden in the back of picture 1.
