Large Cichlid for a 180 gallon.

Clockwork, I am sorry If I missed your post. I haven't looked at this thread in a few weeks so I may have forgotten. But, looking back it seems the carpintis would be a good idea. And maybe I could add a midas or a flower horn or a festae or a managuense. Lol.. I hope the silver dollars will be ok.

This is all still up in the air because I have some beautiful geo. altifrons, threadfin, some severum.. I was just looking for something with more personality.

I am going to hear it for this but, with all due respect a 180 gallon isn't really big enough for a large chiclid and especially a pair. Although a 180 is a nice size tank I would shoot for the mid sized ones. enough room equates to less stress and aggression, healthier fish = less trouble.

personal story got my first bigger tank, a 220 gallon, put 4 oscars in it and man, they made that tank look small surprisingly quickly. 72" x 24" "ain't" that big with 16inch fish in it.

Good luck

^^ Where's your avatar? :(

I don't freaking know. Uploaded this:

But it disappeared. :(

Well, don't get oscars! lol.

Like I said, I have my carpintis in a 150. They are all fairly small.. 2 are about 7" and the others are like 4". I also have a marmokreb in there, a varigated shark, 2 parrots, and 3 honduran Jags I am growing out. Everyone gets along fine, but I'm sure that will change IF the jags pair off, which I am hoping they don't until I get my other 180 cleared out.

I went from 17 Frontosa, to 7... put them in with the rays, and they just started dying off (think they were biting ray tails) but anywho.. The colony that I do have left will be moving to a 180, and I am considering moving my SA/CA 180 tank into the 240.

I love SA/CA cichlids. They ALMOST trump my koi.

I think a Cuban pair would be cool as well, but they grow slow.
