Large, fairly peaceful CA?

Looking for something to go with bichirs in either a 125g or 180g. The bichirs are still only about 4-5" so I think now is a good time to add some cichlids to grow up with them. Needs to have a large enough body that a 12"+ bichir would be able to snack on it. Some ideas I had were thorichthys, nicaraguensis (too small?) or Rehoheros (also too small?). Not a lot of experience with CA's so suggestions are appreciated!

180g would be best for a larger peaceful CA like pearsi and veijas like melanura.
I am not familiar w: bichirs, but a 6"+ cichlid should be too big to be eaten.
Nics are great, and males can get close to 10". Very peaceful cichlids. Also c. Robertsoni is very peaceful and beautiful.

Thorichthys would work I feel. Are you married to C/A? If your open to S/A I feel Serums or chocolate's would also work.

If you did a 125 something like a vieja heterospilus would work. They are slow growers though and hard to find. Or perhaps a jack dempsey?

My water is really hard, so i am moving away from SAs.

Would a group of Thoricthys (6-8), Nics (4-6), Rheoheros lentiginosus (4-6) and a trio of Sajica's work if i went with the 180g?

I meant SA cichlids in general are more peaceful. Sorry about that.
