Large Green Terror tank with dithers?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks,
I have found Brochis splendens to be good tank mates for gt's. They grow bigger than corydoras
and mine get ignored. I have also found Hoplo's great tank mates, they are also ignored.
I also have Pimelodus blochii, these are good for controlling unwanted fry from the cichlids
It's an interesting tank having 1 male and 5 females, lots if spawning behaviour and little aggression. It's best to add your tank mates first and the rivulatus last as juveniles.

giant danios work well as dithers.. I also recently added some exodons to one of my predatory tanks and they seem to be doing just fine.. Quick lil bugs for sure.

Glad it was of use Frank.
What bits never crossed your mind?
Well, the part about the Emeralds....I have them w/ younger female GTs but I would never attempt to keep any Corys w/ a large male or any larger cichlids for fear of being eaten, and I never thought of using a Pim for fry control and I never really thought about adding everything BUT cichlids up until the very end, but it makes perfect sense now to look at it that way.

How does the male GT NOT eat the Corys?

They are around 3 inches, quite big by Cory standards.
The rivulatus were about 1"long when I added them.Growing up side by side and the larger size of the cats, they were never looked upon as food.
I wouldn't add a large gt with any if it was their first encounter.

Tried Giant danios in my 180g with multiple large cichlids, all got eaten in the end. But probably my my 11" frontosa, could be the 8" GT too.
