thumbs up!

They can survive in tropical water just as fine as tropical fishes :) Mines was fine at 86.

This is real good to hear, I didnt want to try it if no one has succeeded before. Do you still have yours?

between 80 an 82 i would guess. if you do it take like a day or two to do the aclimation. super slow. how hot is florida water in the summer/ i bet its gotta be up there. lmb live there right?

I definately wouldn't keep a bass at 85*. They might be able to live in 80*+ for awhile, but in the wild temps do not stay that high all the time, and there are generally cooler areas for them to retreat to. High temps may help them grow faster, but only to a point. If temps are too high, growth and development can be hindered. It can also cause the fish to be lethargic. Warmer temps in general cause fishes life cycles to speed up, so basically, the higher the temps, the shorter its life span.

it will totally work. just slow an easy. it will grow like crazyt though. i caught my lil bass at ward ponds in my belly boat last summer.

Ward ponds are catch and release, thanks for contributing to the demise of once great fishing spot.

no not yet- but it was cool, we set up a miniture version of a alaskan fish trap an caught then by hand. ill take some pics soon

im sure theat ward ponds is a less strong fishery more because of polution an i 70 right next to it.

Fisher: So with the high temps makes fish grows faster but shorten life span would this apply to all types of fish cold water and tropicals???

Trapping and "hand fishing" is illegal and not allowed for any game fish in Colorado.

That may be, but keeping any fish out of there certainly doesn't help.

This applies to virtually all cold blooded animals.

So what temps would you suggest for tropicals?

I keep most tropicals around 78*-80*. If you are willing to drop your temp down to that, I think you would be fine to keep a lmb. It's still warmer than they seem to prefer (when surface temps in the wild start to reach the upper 70's, they spend much less time in the shallows, and retreat to deeper, cooler water) but it should be ok.
