Sorry, not the clearest pic in the world. This large mouth bass started with a few red bumps on its tail. After a few weeks the bumps started sprouting white threads. I'm treating with salt and keeping a close eye on him. He still eats well and doesn't show any sign of distress. Any idea what this could be? And what I could use to treat it?

I was thinking anchor worms but the threads are big and don't really resemble any pics I've seen of anchor worms. Are there different types of anchor worms?

I would as well worry about external parasite such as anchor worm

Parasite clear dissolving tablets.....they bubble when you put them in the tank....Jungle used to make them, now it's Tetra I think. Remove carbon, replace w/ some filter pad, treat for 3 weeks, once weekly .....25% WC before each dose weekly. Run you around $5 for every 80 gallons you need to treat - so $15 to treat an 80g tank for 3 weeks total

I believe I know what it might be now. lymphocystis, a virus that cause these lumps to pop up all over the body. I've isolated the fish and I'm treating it for secondary bacterial infection because there's no known cure for lymphocystis. Luckily it's rarely fatal unless it spreads to the gills

I would be using broad spectrum 3-in-1 for something like this.....we are all just "guessing" what it is at this point. Best to cover all bases......if it's Fungal and you treat for bacterial it will actually make it WORSE

Luckily I work for a company that spares no expense when it comes to keeping their fish tanks healthy. I'm getting a microscope next week and I'll be able to take a sample and determine exactly what it is. I'm VERY excited to try it out.
