large mouth bass

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Why would you buy one when you can catch one in pretty much any large body of water around you provided that you have a valid fishing license?

Not if you want to start small and follow most minimum size rules. Also, many states ban the taking of live gamefish. For me, I can take baitfish like perch and sunnies, but it is illegal to take game fish like trout or bass. If I want to take home a game fish, legally it has to be dead.

The reason they are bought/sold is that its not legal everywhere to just go down to the lake and catch fish for your tank. Bass also aren't available locally to everyone.

I also wanted to add that its very easy to get bass on prepared foods, there is no reason to use feeders that can transmit diseases/parasites to your fish.

My reply wasn't intended for you - sorry. :)

Regarding the prepared food though: You're correct, feeders may not be the best option, although bass are super hearty and are much less likely to get sick than other fish. I prefer wild caught minnow. As do my fish. I have had no luck with getting the SMB's to take prepared food. The LMB is so aggressive, he doesn't know what he's eating half the time. Dumb fish nails chicken liver when it hits the water. :D

so yeah.. pain in the butt! I challenge anyone to get my LMB to eat anything other than minnows! and if anyone wants to come to Mn and get my LMB its yours to take. hes close to 13 inches and is not very social..

We (njnativefish)can get largemouth bass in. Our prices are better than other sites, an 8-12" largemouth bass would cost you $10. PM me if your interested.
