Large mouth bass

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I find it hard to imagine a large mouth bass getting roughed up by cichlids having experienced their explosive strikes on topwater lures and their fighting power on a line.

Not doubting anybody, It just kinda surprised me

I could say your right having been born n raised in Louisiana I've fished my whole life... Not once have I ever hooked a cichlid tho lol.. Another note on the bass aggression being fIshed from a pond then acclimated to a tank probably hassome effect on him

bass are cichlids. its just like any other fish. if thrown in a tank where all the territory is taken already he has no ground to defend so he is goin to stay to himself and not fight. once you change the decor or tanks he will stake claim on the whole tank, i had a 4in LMB in my tank and he was picking on a 10in florida gar that could almost eat him.

large mouth bass ARE certainly cichlids. they are not a true bass.

I believe they are in the sunfish family.
