Large non aggressive fishes

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have both rose lines and balas in my tank as well. I recommend either as well. They should be okay as well if you get the balas smallish and grow them together. Balas also can get impressively large and do better in groups so be apprised

I have dennisons too, they are one of the most beautiful fish in the hobby imo. They will grow to about 6" in time. Its a shame they don't grow to monster size because that would be one hell of a sight.

Another option is to just go with fish that are too huge to see the neons as food. My LFS has a two-foot arowana in their "huge fish people have brought in" tank, and there are some endlers swimming around in that tank as well- fast feeders, apparently. The aro doesn't care about the endlers, it apparently sees them as too small to eat or doesn't even notice them at all.

Blood parrots, koi (depending on temperature), bala sharks, chinese hifin sharks, flagtail prochilodus, tinfoil barbs, silver dollars, plecos, etc...

Silver dollars might trample over/frighten your small fish, and I'm not sure I'd consider them peaceful. Mine bit chunks off each other during dominance battles, and by the way they eat, I wouldn't be surprised if they see neons as food.

Plecos, way too many cool plecos out there would love a dedicated tank with some beastly plecos and smaller schooling fish,

Would that work with Pink Tail Chalceus?
