Large Pygos. Does anyone like Piranhas still?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i still like piranha and maybe one day will get some more, i loved my piraya but at 7'' was a mere baby in comparision to yours.
i think i remember your pictures from PFury but you must have gone under another username there.
anyway those were awesome and thanks for posting them.
i may start an old school piranha thread in the p forum to celebrate.

Those are awesome mate!!! Love them for sure. They definitely take on a more rugged, robust look as large adults!! Impressive! :D

I'm tempted to try elongatus or banditi...interesting p's they are.

piranhas are amazing fish especially when you study the different species of pygos and serras, most people only know about red belly piranhas.
i have reds right now but im trying to get a hold of some caribe which is difficult where i live

Sapir,

Colouring aside, Caribe have the best personality as far as Pygos are concerned. Piraya, imo have the nicest colouring.

Brandtii are my favourate Serras.

Those look MASSIVE! Ive kept quite a few p's but nothing compairs to those bad boys!

Bogwood,

Thanks, they were brutes. I can only imagine how old they were.

Dixon,

I remember seeing you around. I am pretty sure I went under Bry for all forums, either way they were on most if not all of the large forums. I am sure I will get back into P's as well.

PP,

Elongatus are a bit on the shy side but Brandtii, like I said before, are my favourate. Aggresive but energetic and beautiful colouring.

Hahaha, nice choice of colors there Bry! LoL!

Thanks for the correction on the spelling, I figgered I was spelling it wrong.

Brandtii would be most first choice for sure, but them elongatus are hott as well! Probably the only two p's I would ever keep. I have never really seen any adult pictures of either, do you know of any?

BTW...how are you Blue Tongues doing? That recipe you gave me has really beefed Ron up! :D

lol, I never did that. It is the colour your posts come up as, only yours.:)

I have pics of my old 5" Elongatus but nothing larger. I did have a 9" Brandtii but I gave it to a douche of a friend I used to have, never had any pics of it. Too bad, he was a beautiful fish!

My Blues are doing great! The adults tend to relax most of the time but the baby is growing daily, full of energy! Glad to hear the food ideas are working out, so what do you feed him as a staple?

it probably was the same username as it was a long time ago LOL.
i started that thread in the p forum, you can have a look at mine if you like.

I love these things!!! I love how your have such a big huge mouth, from my previous experiences, after keeping them in captivity, they get fatter, and the mouth looks smaller after a year or so of good feeding.

Funny you mention it Wes, here are closeups of their mouths. :)

I could never understand how people could mix up Pacu with Pygos...

I fed them exclusively on shrimp, scallops, mussels and squid.
