She was amazing, she was my pride and joy I grew her out from about an inch and a half

Will a female show those colors without a male? I’ve seen some stuff where they are very dull unless in a pair.

Mine did
That was her colour all day every day

I actually think them photos were taken before I got a male large enough to go in with her, I tried putting males in before they were the same size as her and unfortunately they met their end, the male you see I had to grow out so he was bigger then her then put him in and she still put him through his paces and beat him up.

I know you get this a lot, but that is one impressive nuchal hump for any female cichlid. The male is like a flowerhorn too!

I guess for colors, they still keep great colors just not as intense.

The color does vary between fish as well.
