Large Spot or Small Spot?

That male of yours is a beast, good luck with the breeding.

I had that FAMA mag too, and remember the flap.
I believe the ones I had way back then were "small spot", they spawned but ate the eggs.
Hoping for a better outcome with the current group

Wow Duane! Your fish are gorgeous.. I had seen these pictures before but I always get taken by how awesome these "oscars" look hehehe
If I may, I'll add a few pics of mine :-)

These guys had lots of babies this summer so the strain lives on. These came from Michael Negrini in France and are traced directly to fish brought by Jean Claude Nourissat an Patrick de Rham in one of their visits to the isle.

Very nice Jose, gotta love those Andapa.

Jose' the difference between my "small spot" variety and those beauties of yours seems totally obvious that they are separate species.
And not just in the size of the spots.

Yep!! I want to keep other species besides Andapa, I'm just concentrated on breeding them as much as possible to get them stablished in the US. I have taken some to Mexico but I doubt they will last there.
Your fish are really awesome, I hope they breed for you this year.
I have about 6 adult pairs of Andapa and while a pair may breed in a 240, I find it much more practical to put them in a 100 gallon tub outside because they breed there without fail. I will do that again this spring with a couple of pairs. For now I'm raising a couple hundred fry.

Did you donate some of the Andapa to the CCAC in Indy for their fall auction?
