How about using these for a LARGE filter...

Probably better used where noise would bed less of an issue, but it would be cool to have stackable trays with the larger container on the bottom as a sump. :)

Im thinking that it would be good standing next to my mom's raised pond. Right now she is using a pressurized cannister filter and it can be difficult for her to clean it. If she didn't do regular water changes, I dont know how her pond would survive.

We use those at my work - they are pretty sturdy. I don't know if it'd be any easier to clean though - you'd have to disassemble the whole stack to clean them.

Definitely be better from an aeration and Bio perspective though, and if it started to plug, it would seep out between two layers and drip into the larger tub, so you wouldn't lose circulation.

Max Stackable weight is only 150 pounds ... wouldn't take much for that.

yeah they say that... Those containers are serious though. I've carried around 150lbs in one tray. Besides, 150lbs of media (depending on the type) is a fair bit, even for a pond, and even with a bit of water pooling in each tray.

yeah I know they are strong (I actually have a pair of them here)... but wouldn't want to test having them stacked with to much weight... I'm sure I would have a failure in the long term... I see stress marks on mine from having 100 pounds in them (use them for Sand storage for my son's sand box) and they are only a couple of years old... Good idea though
