i seen the thread about the large tanks on wooden floors the other day. well i have a large tank 180gal which i am thinking of putting on a wooden floor what do you guys think??/

my dad mad ethe first thread we were thinking of doing a 72x18x24 on 4.75 8x2 joices i would like to know the answer to this question aswell.

I have a 135, and I have a crawl space under my house. I put a floor jack under it just to be sure, but I really don't think I needed it. I don't know my joist size, but the house was built in '76 if anyone would have an idea. You will have better luck against a wall, preferably an outer wall.

thanks! i was planning on putting it up against a wall anyways.

I think personally if the tank is leveled properly and it isn't over 210 gallons no one should have anything to worry about. If your that worried about it, get about 5 people to stand as close together as possible and jump up and down and if it collapses...lol I guess you couldn't put the tank there, but I'm sure it would be fine just check what you have underneath where you plan to put the tank, a joist or a support next to a wall would be best to not worry, but I dont think you should have to worry.

ok thanks, i shoulda mentioned its upstairs.

what if i got a 72"x18"x24" which mbuna was saying about, thats around 135gal innit???

^^would that be better

If your joists can hold a bath full of water you should be OK. The weight of the walls and roof are partly supported also so unless its a really big tank 350+ I dont think there should be a problem.

And make sure it goes perpidicular to the joists, so the weight is spread over as many as possible.
