So I noticed the VATF's appetite hasn't been optimal for the recent week and actually saw today that there is swelling and bubbling inside the eye. The VATF is housed with 3 other Rays so I'm not too keen on putting in medication. So far I'm starting to do daily WCs, added a bag of salt and upped the temperature to 31 Celsius. Anyone have any suggestions on how to treat this?

That's basically what I did when I had the exact same thing happen to my vatf and it worked out alright.
Just do a lot of WCs and keep the temp up (don't forget that warmer water caries less oxygen).

Good luck!

Did your Vatf also have bubbles in the eye itself and not the white clear patch on the outside of the eye that is commonly seen? This is the first time I've ever seen bubbles myself. Hope it goes away, have kept this bad boy for 2 years now.

Clean water and salt will get it better. It doesn't look infected yet. If it gets cloudy and discolored then its a problem. Like Michael said should be better soon.

Indeed it did, I've seen this happen to a tat as well. I have no idea why it occurred in neither case.

Best of luck with him, he's a stunner!

Currently, doing 40% water changes daily. not much improvement just yet. I am on the watch and have been preparing for a full day power outage that is coming up from city power grid maintenance. Got myself a backup generator for insurance.
