Large water changes for large aquariums

I think he was implying that if money is an issue, don't do saltwater because there is no cheap way of doing it, just less ridiculously expensive
 
Better late than never, but...
Look into an Algae Turf Scrubber (ATS). I've been running one for over two years and water changes are rare. My last real water change was nine months to a year ago.
 
I agree, putting your money into your equipment will save you loads of money down the road. High end skimmers like Bubble king are a way to take a load off water changes. I only do then once every 6 months just for kicks. I really could get away with a whole year IMO.

+1...but salt is the cheapest part of the hobby honestly. IO is $0.27 per gallon through DFS...
