Largemouth Bass and Johana Pike

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ya, i keep the temp at low to mid 70's, Bass Will feel like summer for a while, Pike will like it also. They seem to be getting along much better now. Pike eyes the shiners I Throw in for the Bass but he is scared i think to eat the bass's food. Bass actually only eats one shiner per day, hopefully he will eat more than that in a few weeks....

Nice bass you have there. I would feed him a bigger variety of food, and this will save you money in the long run. Mine eats krill, ghost shrimp, fatheads, Omega One Cichlid pellets, Hikari Gold, and the occasional Hippie.

I think that bass deserves the tank to himself. Plus it doesn't look like the pike likes it too much.

Eventually that bass will need a bigger tank, but for now it will make a good growout. As for the other fish, I don't know. My Oscar and Bass get along great.

actually- both largemouth and south american cichlids enjoy well oxygenated water up to 98 degrees..... bass dislike 70 degree water temps- hence why they move to the shallows

Bass live in MN under the ice at 33 deg F. Depends on where you got the bass from. They move to the shallows because they spawn and feed there.
