Largemouth Bass Death

Is 30 gallons really to small for a 4 inch lmb? In my opinion I would have kept it in there for a few good months till it hit the 6-8 inch mark. Also, you could ask me if you have any lmb Qs, I've kept them for a while. And though I don't take the best care of them due to my low budget, I try my best. Better yet, just ask Jridge. :)

LMB and sunfish seem to be the only fish I keep alive for any length of time; LMB can cohab with peacock bass. I wouldnt use a northern strain bass for this cohab as they tend to be more aggressive and need cooler temps and stay smaller. So in your case I would get a Florida strain from the south not one breed up north. The florida strain should be able to handle the temps the Pbass needs it should be a little more timid and grow as big as the pbass. There are a few changes I would add; bump down the tank temp to say 78 degrees and add more air flow to the tank, then call it good.

Awesome. I'm kind of limited to the northern ones now but i'm convinced I can make it work. Im actually going to kill the heater in the 30 and as he gets bigger I will turn it back on and slowly increase the temp to match the 220 for transfer day. My basement is always around 65-70 degrees so I'm guessing the water won't fall far below that. My 220 is running at a lot lower temp, somewhere around 73-75 range so the difference isn't that great. This time I will get it right. Its going to be cool getting the bass together, the only thing I am worried about now is that the largemouths growth rate will almost double the Pbass's in the next few months. The Pbass is about nine and the Largemouth is around 3-4. I guess Im hoping the largemouth gets about 6-7 and that the mono will plateau a bit and only put on an inch or so. I'll have to feed him well I guess.

Good call man. I live up in NY so all of my Fish Farm contacts only carry the northern strain. I didnt think about the Florida strain. That may work out much better. Heres a link where you can possibly buy some.

Thanks a ton Jridge. Your in Buffalo right? The Sabres just beat the Flyers the other night. Ryan Miller is a damn good goalie. I'll check out the link.
