1) check local laws
2) catch your own if legal or Contact a local fish hatchery. It's likely to be cheaper then a distributor and you'll likely get the chance to pick your own fish.
3) LMB are schoolers, they break off into breeding pairs as adults. But they school most the year.
4) Coloration may be duller then PB's to an extent. But I've caught some gorgeous fish.
5) Really sit down and think if that what you want.. a fish that gets up to 24". And even though LMB are natives once in captivity it should NEVER be released into the wild.
It's a hard decision, with all the factors included. Peacocks get larger than lmb, maybe not in aquaria, but they do get larger. There's several issues regarding legalty. Be carfeul, if caught you can get a big fine. If I were you, I'd get a peacock bass. I don't look at lmb any less then peacocks...but a colorful killer eating machine with a mouth to match would be pretty cool.
Thats thoroughly illegal in most places. LMB are game fish and therefor protected by certain regulations. A "little dink" is usually illegal to keep, there are laws about how large a fish has to be before you can keep it and when its too large.
