MI
I would love to keep a largemouth bass. I live in MI. I've been told that is extremely illegal to keep native fish in personal aquariums in MI. Does anybody know if this is true or where I should look? How difficult it would be to apply to the DNR to keep these fish...I would give this a shot. But if it turned out to be a hassel even in the slightest, I wouldn't have a problem going on the down-low with my bass.

i ve done it , in MI, i had large and small mouth, channel and flathead, carp, pike , and rock bass.....but ive never checked how legal it was

Check with your Fish & Game Comission (or similar... whoever issues fishing licenses).

Yeah, just check with your local fish and game. They may not allow you to take fish from a lake or stream, but they may allow you to accuire a bass from a hatchery.

dnr in mich has more authority than the state police but they are not comin to your house to look for native fish but its illegal but dont be a pussycat

I think MI rules are the same as WI. Here we can't keep any fish for pets that are wild caught. But if you purchase them they are OK. So just buy your largemouth and save the receipt. You should be ok....

Or if you know somebody in the business just have them print you up a reciept for it.

Yep, that works too!
