Larger cichlids and........

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ive kept them with 50+ different cichlids ranging from 1/2" to 18" over the years and NEVER had a single issue. I cant think of a single tank (except my current ones) that Ive never kept pictus in.

Four line pictus or P. blochii can be a little lazy during the day but most never stop moveing i've never seen a pictus cat that would hide all day

Seems to me like the smaller pictus are more active and as they age they become more and more of a hiding fish that comes out at night.

I have 4 currently. 3 of them are about 3 or 4 inches, and they hide most of the day. And one 2" er who swims around almost all day.

One thing to remember is that they have stickers, so if one of your larger cichlids decides to eat one, he could possibly be damaged internally or choke and die. So best to keep an eye on the tank to make sure none of the big guys are taking an interest.

Thanks for all the input guys! I was kinda worried about them mixing with the larger cichlids but looks like lots of folks have had good experiences. Clown loaches would be cool too though. Hmmmm....
