Welcome aboardwhat’s the largest growing freshwater catfish ?
#1 is definitely the Mekong cat, but #2 is somewhat disputed. In terms of recorded weights, it would go to the piraiba at ~340 lbs. There are claims that both wels cats and piraiba get much larger than their official record sizes.

Hello, I've seen you mention this fish in your comments on other posts, and I'd like to know more about it. Do you know any other relevant information? According to my understanding, the scientific name of this fish should be Platysilurus malarmo, but I'm not sure if I'm correct. I don't know how to send a private message, so I can only leave a message here first. Thank you -- from a fish enthusiast in Urumqi, China#1 is definitely the Mekong cat, but #2 is somewhat disputed. Will depend on whether it grows larger than 8” or not. If yes, then you are correct. If it stays around 8” then it will be platysilurus mucosus.Hello, I've seen you mention this fish in your comments on other posts, and I'd like to know more about it.
