Largest dovii in private aquaria?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mel's monster is around 26"+ and that's been said by many people I've talked to who have seen the fish in person. I've personally talked to Mel an he's a straight shooter and doesn't pitch any bs and knows what the heck he's doing. His dovii was spawned by him and raised by him it's entire life and is around 11 years old or so. It's probably the only true 2 footer around though.

I have seen this fish in person twice. It's two feet long easy. I was shocked when I saw him. I have no reason to BS, I get nothing out of it. And if anything I've found Mel underestimates the size of some of his fish IMO.

Reviving an old thread.

This Dovii of Mels passed about 4 months or so ago. When Mel pulled it out to give it its proper burial, he measured the beast at just a hair under 26.5". Since his death Mel has said he will not do any more videos of any more of his tanks. I myself however am doing a series on youtube called, OnTheROAD, where I visit hobbyists, interview them and ask questions while video taping their setups. I am hopeful that Mel will allow me to come over and talk with him and video his fish for all of us to see again. Please check out the series at my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuIydfyGZ9_AVnDHuO3XsrA
