weight means everything, length doesn't mean squat.
Tell that to your girl, snicker.

The largest freshwater fish is the sturgeon. Yes it is a cold water fish, but it is a true freshwater fish. the largest one ever caught was 26 feet lond and weighed over 3 tons. It's in the Guinness book of world records website.

Actually, that would be Huso huso (the beluga sturgeon), and they breed in freshwater but live in marine water... thus, not a true FW fish.

W.sturgeon individuals can live and breed in both fw and sw. The ones near Newberg, or. are lifetime residents, the sp. gets at least 18' long. not as massive as a beluga but not bad for pacific northwest, they are pretty rare over 10' due to past overharvesting.
