You are asking very good questions. They are in stock tanks, and are not permanent whatsoever. This spring I am planning on beginning construction on a garage in my yard that is falling apart, literally. I will turn it into a combo loft for myself, fish room, with multiple vats/ponds, and a greenhouse, with aquaria. It will be kind of small but very cozy and fish-oriented.

cool can we se pics of your collection now??? I am interested in seeing how you have your tubs filtered I am always looking for new and better ways of filtering multiple setups
no tubs yet - Nothing that huge yet.
And there was a good point earlier about not being knowledgable about their natural behavior ,etc... That is the primary aim of my having them - researching them and learning everything I possibly can about them through direct hands on experience , talking to others, and reading what is out there on them. In other words, I'm hoping to get to know them on a deep level - one which will allow for me to actually begin to attempt to breed them. In other words, I'm avoiding the whole idea of "a guy with a bunch of lungfish" but rather along the lines of what Steve Irwin was doing with endangered species.
And as for the collection dwindling. I strongly doubt that happening. If anything, I'll be one of those getting those bagfulls to increase my chances of becoming a professional lungfish researcher / hopefully breeder!

That does sound sweet - thank you! AquaMan Imports is supposedly getting me a bag of 30 Africans - so we'll see - but I definitely am interested in getting some more dolloi as I don't think I have enough of THOSE to create a breeding group. Same goes for aethiopicus.

how big a tank do you need to keep them forlife? they get like 3-4' right? and are fairly active?
