Just got home from work. 9inch NTT is swimming up and down the glass, doing tail down head up. Sometimes going upside down, It looks like its Anus is swollen and there might be what i think is blood.
It's fighting like mad to stay upright, still very strong.
The mother says she hasn't seen it doing it today so i figure what ever is wrong it's just happened now.
I haven't seen the big one eat for a few feedings, but i just guessed it was getting pieces of shrimp after light out.
Prior to eating shrimp i gave them fish fillet, i'm thinking there might have been a bit of bone in one or something.
As i write this it's swimming past me at 45 degrees, going belly up tail stands then righting itself.
Any ideas? I don't think it's good, it's going to give up soon.

I think it might have air in its belly by the way it's tipping. Should i try to massage it or what?

It's getting worse, the fish is looking agitated and darting around from time to time. Swimming about upside down for spells, swimming in tight circles. it's panting as well. Tested the water, it 's the same as always. I suppose it's in a bit of pain.
Bummer man!!

Doesn't sound good mate. It sounds to me as swim bladder or digestion problems. Not really sure what you can do about it atm. Does it swim with a lot of tankmates? Do they fight alot? Hope someone else can chime in!

I have no idea what could be going on here.It does not sound good but I hope it pulls through.

2 other NTTs, both smaller. No they don't fight at all.
It's going mental now. It's colour's have come up as bright as i've seen them.
It defo internal injury of some nature.
It's swimming as if it's trying to get out of the tank or away if you will.
It's not going to last much longer i don't think.
Can't bring myself to kill it though, just in case.

It's sad that any of your fish has to come down with this ailment but it is compounded that it has to be a thinbar.

The biggest thinbar.
I couldn't watch it any more. It was swimming around like it was blind, smashing the tank to bits.
Then when it wasn't it was upside down with head in the corner. Its eye was damaged from swimming into things and it was getting scratched and banged up.
I put it in a bucket with Oceans free arowana stabilizer, which is essentially chemical clove oil and i put it to sleep.
Bummer, and double bummer!
RTG and now biggest Dat in the space of 3 months!!!

Here it is.

Just horrible.

Never mind. My other 2 will be that big in another 12 months.
I'll just get another one.
I'm going to try and get them on pellets though, or at least stuff prawn with pellets. I was a bit dubious of fish fillets because of bone fragments. I thought i'd checked the pieces properly, but i might have missed a bit. I can't think of anything else. They only eat shrimp though, shelled and cut up.
I think i might get a big canister filter as well. My sump is massive, but ever since my RTG died i wanted the water to be cleaner.
I honestly thought these NTTs were bullet proof. I moved house about 4 months ago, i put my tank outside the new house and had loads of problems with it. A month ago i moved it in the house. So, my NTTs went through the process of moving twice with no problems. Full tank break down, and fillter media in tubs with air stones, the works man!
I've never had any problem with them. One of my small one got ill because i starved them to try and get them on pellets ages ago. I thought it would be a goner. I put it in an iso tank and gave it meds, it pull though with no problems.
If i could swear on the forum i would right now TBH.
