Your fish look really nice and the setup looks good too.

I recently gave away my "pair" of salvini. I bought them from a guy who said they were a pair but I think they were just a male and female because the larger female would constantly bully the smaller male and they never showed interestin breeding. Stunning fish though. They hid a lot but they were pretty nasty. My 4in female was the only fish in the tank who would constantly pick fights with my 5-6"male midas and win.

Thanks, I think males get that way as they age. The last 3 are of my male and they were pretty small too. Mines was mostly faded like yours. In fact both mines were only colorful when they were fighting.

My pair. The biggest male I've grown was around 7" and the female around 5". I have seen bigger males. Check out the threads of Polomax24.

Biggest I've seen was a LFS in LA Mirada had a male pushing 10" not great color but big. Best lookn sal I ever seen, see post #16!

I had a 8 inch male and I would imagine there are some outside the norm that can reach 10-11 inches.

Here was my male sal. He started getting into it with my female nic so he had to go. He was about 5" in that pic, still a bit of growing to do.

There color gets way better with a few weeks of good feeding
