Nice fish room. Could you share with me an estimate of cost to set all this up? Whats electric bill like every month?

I was thinking the same. I mean i love your fishroom, but i think with all the minimum 100W heaters x 56 is like 5600W p/h and lights and filters 56 x 20W each filter is 1120W and 100W lights is another 5600W

5600
5600
1120
-------
12320W every hour $$$$$

if you want to share i realy want to know the bill
also a fortune on water i think...

I don't use heaters except on the bottom level outside tanks and freestanding tanks. I have 5 heaters running in the whole fishroom. The "unheated" tanks stay between 74-77 all year long.

As for electric bill, its $320 a month. I have 3 kids who leave lights on and a pool, so its no too bad. All my lights are on their own circuit on a timer. I use a single central pump to run my airdriven filters. The only tanks that have supplemental filtration are the big boys (the 220g, the oscar tank, and the discus tank).

We don't have a water bill as we have a well. :)

As for set up costs, that is less easy to answer. I amassed alot of it over time. As I made money from breeding stuff I set money aside. The stands are hand made by my husband and each 3-tiered rack was about $80 in materials. The air pump was $250. PVC costs, valves, etc, no clue. I try not to think about it, lol. If i were to insure what i have going on down there I would say "priceless"

also, alot more tanks now then when I made this thread, lol. Here are a few pics, but even these are way out of date as there are another rack or two since then and we have added quick drain ports so I don't have to use hoses for maintenance.
