Don't snails often overpopulate in aquariums? So maybe the yabby could also help keep the snails in control too.

good point, free food and less snails, everybody wins!:D

You don't need to feed live/whole fish, bloodworms and sinking pellets could work and solve the problem.
Also, i think blackfin/columbian sharks prefer a brackish tank as they get larger.

well i dont fed him whole fish they r only like 1.5-2" silversides and i cut them up but he never seems to eat the whole fish the black fin and the giant snail kinda clean te mess but like i said the black fin is to small and the snail leaves skeletons everywhere so the little snails i dont have a poblem loosing and the black fin seems to be fine in clear freshwater. but as for brackish water idont even know what that is so help me out guys.

brackish is when saltwater meets fresh. So that shark might need to be moved to a new larger tank when older.

i think so.they need at least 70 gallons i think. He sounds like a baby,so slowly over time add salt to his tank.

how much salt? the tag on his tank said a table spoon of salt for every 5 gallons

he will be fine untill he is larger, they start off tolerant of fresh, and end up brackish, and some even SW when fully grown.
Although the tank size is key, what tomhankstheshark really meant is it will have to be converted over to brackish in the larger tank when older, thus meaning either it, or the bichir and pleco, and snails are going to need a different tank. Also "Salt meeting fresh", means that where they live, the FW stream empties into a SW body, and they live inbetween that, hence brackish.

k so then my question would be how long can he be in the fresh befor i have to swap him out? because im not ready for a salt water tank yet it to much work for the time i have to spend i know that sounds bad but fresh is just easier for me right now the chemicals in a salt water tank r to much for me right now
